On November 13, Brookestone Meadows New Community Room was opened with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and reception. Members of the Vetter Senior Living, Home Office Team were in attendance along with the Western Douglas County Chamber of Commerce members, community friends and professionals, a representative of the Omaha Mayor’s Office and Brookestone Meadows team members, patients, residents and family members.  It was a wonderful morning and we had many come out to celebrate with us.

In the same afternoon, Brookestone Meadows hosted an Alumni Reunion with over 100 people coming back to help celebrate with us! They came also to visit their care givers as well as the therapy team members who helped them in their rehabilitation.

There have been many events hosted in our New Community Room since opening and there are many more planned for the future. The dream of this beautiful space is now a reality and we intend to utilize this incredible space to its fullest potential. If you have not had the opportunity to see this beautiful new space, please come by, we’d love to show it to you as well as give you a tour of Brookestone Meadows if you have not been here before.

Experience Rehabilitation and Care at its finest; experience, Brookestone Meadows!

We are now in week seven with construction of the Brookestone Meadows Great Room. Everyone here is fascinated by the wall and roof framing as it is nearing completion. Beautiful window spaces are now showing and we can see where the fireplace is going to be too! “Now the carpenters are tackling the tricky connection between the new and the existing building”, writes Mitch Elliot, lead architect of Vetter Senior Living. So, if you love construction, please stop by Brookestone Meadows and watch this all come to life.  We are definitely excited!

Things continue to be pretty exciting around here as construction continues on our new community room. It has been exactly one month since construction was started and as of today we have the foundation in place, concrete for the flooring poured and exterior changes made to the existing building that are being readied for the new addition. Many more technical changes have occurred, but we would need our construction manager to write this for that kind of information!

Every day patients and residents come by or come early to get “their spot” for the construction work that is being done for the day. It is so fun to hear the patients and residents talk about their understanding of the construction industry and how interesting it is for them to “watch someone else do this hard work”! The rest of us marvel at the big trucks coming and going, the ground shaking at times with moving of the earth when graded and all of the timing of people and their jobs. These guys are good!

Soon, we will have the process moving inside as work needs to be done that involves the ceiling and walls. Stay tuned, this is progress!

Construction has begun at Brookestone Meadows

In an effort to enhance our quality of life, a new great room is being added on to the front of the building.  This 1,600 square foot space will have multiple purposes and functions for patients, families, guests, and team members.  We will be able to accommodate up to 80 people for a sit down dinner or as many as 100 people to watch a Husker game on the overhead projection screen.  We are confident that our famous wine and cheese reunions will launch from this great room addition!  This great room space will also serve as a wonderful place for team gatherings,  meetings for training, and celebrations.

As a part of this new construction work, the existing ice cream parlor will be relocated and expanded into what is now the meditation chapel.  A private patio, that will make a special place for morning cups of coffee, will be added adjacent to the ice cream parlor in a quiet courtyard.  Just off of the ice cream parlor, will be a new a gift shop.  The O.W.L.S. will be serving our residents and their guests with special gifts available to purchase in this renovated space.  The renovation will also include expansion to some of the office space in the therapy gym area.

RDG Planning and Design is the architectural firm for this project.  They served as the architect and quality partner for the original building.  Vetter Senior Living is handling  and overseeing the construction management for this project.  Steve Hansen, Project Manager for the Vetter organization will be managing the construction work.

We anticipate this work being completed sometime this fall…maybe in time for a Husker game!
